From: Dhanada Mishra To: Dear Dhanada babu, Namaskar! At the outset, I would apologise for my sheer negligence in not responding to your mails for this long. I came back only last night from Rajnagar, where I had been for more than a fortnight. This morning when I opened the mailbox, there were so many mails, which needed to be replied. There are also many apprehensions from different people. Everyone should understand that, I have a primary business for my bread & butter and support. After you left BBSR, there were some schedules which needed my involvement for its execution. Hence, I remained busy for completely one month. On the 9th of Jan., I received a call from Mr.Behere of REACHD regarding some problems in the field which needed the original budget to be revised. Since Somdutt was present at that time, I thought it would be best to apprise him regarding the changes. But unfortunately that day, he was going somewhere out and had asked me to meet him the next day. I had asked him to give a call whenever he was free the next, but I couldn't get any from him. Then, I tried to send a mail to Mr.Darshan and you regarding the above problem, but to my ill luck all the time I found the cyber cafe full , since it was new year time. After that, I couln't remain at BBSR for complete one month. The real problem lies with REACHD is about the installation of pump set. As far as the field situation is concerned, it needs little changes in the proposal. The pump to be installed has to be a submersible instead of a monobloc one, as mentioned in the original proposal. The following changes are needed in the original proposal; Sl.No. Item Unit Estimated cost Previous cost ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- 01. 10 HP electric pump 01 35,000/- 20,000/- (submersible) 02. PVC Pipe(08 inch) 1800ft@80/- 1,44,000/- 75,000/- 03. Distribution channel(03) 1000ft @60/- 60,000/- 20,000/- 04. G.I.Pipe(04inch) 50ft @105/- 5,250/- Not mentioned 05. Pump & Pipeline -- 15,000/- 10,000/- accessories 06. Electric poles(03) 03poles &60ft 18,000/- 12,000/- with wire wire 07. Pump set & Electrical -- 10,000/- 5,000/- Installation charges ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- Now, the total project cost comes to the tune of Rs. 5,12,250/-. The original cost of the project was Rs.3,62,000/-. Hence, there is an increase of Rs.1,50,000/- in the original cost of the project. The following is the break-up of the total project cost; (a) Total project cost : Rs.5,12,000/- (b) Total NGO contribution : Rs.29,200/- (c) Total beneficiery contribution : Rs.32,000/- (d) Total grant under food for work progm.: Rs.65,000/- (e) Total Loan to be given : Rs.3,85,800/- The budget needs to be revised as per the following reasons; (i) Originally, it was planned for the installation of a 10hp electric monobloc pump. But as per the longetivity and permanence of the project, the technical experts advise for a submersible pump instead of the previous one. There is an increase of Rs.20,000/-. (ii) Originally, it was planned for 4inch PVC pipeline to be installed for distribution, but the same experts say that, 04inch pipe can't absorb the force, hence 08inch pipe need to be installed instead of 04inch. There is an increase of Rs.69,000/-. (iii) Previously, there was no provision of G.I.Pipe in the original proposal. But, it was later decided that, 50ft of G.I.Pipe of 04 inch diameter to be fixed with the submersible pump. (iv) Previously, it was planned for one distribution channel for delivery. But, later it was found that one single distribution channel can't deliver to 50 acres of land. Hence, it needs to be three distribution channel instead of one. Hence, there is an increase of Rs.40,000/-. (v) In the revised budget, the cost of installation charges of Pump & Pipeline has been estimated to Rs.15,000/- instead of 10,000/- in the original. The cost needs to be incre- ased due to installation of a submersible pump and G.I.Pipe. (vi) Accordingly, the cost of accessories also needs to be increased to Rs.15,000/- instead of 10,000/- in the original proposal. (vii) In the original proposal, provision was made for installation of two(02) electric poles. But since 60ft running electric line has to be drawn from the point, three(03) poles has to be installed instead of two. Hence, there is an increase of Rs.6,000/-. Ya, I have also gone through the mail which Somdutt has written. Actually, a 05 hp pump can't deliver sufficient water to serve 50 acres of land. It can only sufficient for 15 to 20 acres of land. Hence, the experts here say about a 10 hp pump only. Again, a submersible pump would give a better result instead of a monobloc one. Now, since the harvesting season is already over and the target group is busy with the project, we have to take immediate action in taking a decision and releasing the second & final instalment for the fulfilment of the project. Any suggestion or clarification from your end is highly appreciated. An early response from your end is awaited. More in the next after getting a reply from your end. Till then, Thanks a lot, best regards, Bijay Patra Sent: Monday, February 04, 2002 7:58 AM
